"Coincidental Day Trip is a Boston-based improvisation trio consisting of Anton Derevyanko on the saxophones, Shane Dahler on drums, and Michael Morrissette on bass. Ever since they came together at New England Conservatory’s preparatory program, they have been playing
and performing together all over the New England area, both as a unit and individually. Bassist Michael Morrissette is starting his musical studies at Berklee College of Music this coming fall on a full-tuition scholarship. Having performed in respected venues such as Jordan Hall and Pierce Hall, he is well-versed in the Boston music scene. Drummer Shane Dahler, from Brookline, will start at the New England Conservatory for music this coming fall. He has performed at many local venues including Jordan Hall, Symphony Hall, the Boston Public Library, Outpost 186, and other private events spanning the region. His most recent project involved him playing on Akinola Sennon’s album entitled “Cousoumeh”, to be released on Ropeadope Records within the year. Saxophonist Anton Derevyanko has performed at venues such as Ryles, the Lilypad, Outpost 186, Brighton Music Hall, and Symphony Hall, as well as festivals such as the Newport Jazz Festival. Having just completed his first year, Anton has performed at headlining Berklee events, additionally being featured on numerous recitals, studio recordings, and professional gigs. Together, this dynamic trio combines a traditional jazz feeling with a creative and innovative mindset, performing music ranging from well-known jazz standards to modern compositions."
