Juana Monsalve Live Music Performance

Colombian soprano Juana Monsalve was born in Medellin. She started her musical journey at a very early age singing in choirs and playing the guitar.

Juana earned her Bachelor’s degree in her hometown at EAFIT University. Later, she was awarded with the Carolina Scholarship to pursue further studies in the Conservatory of the Liceu in Barcelona, Spain. In 2015, she graduated from her Master’s degree at Longy School of Music of Bard College.

She has performed in operas, solo recitals and concerts in several Colombian cities, Barcelona and Boston area. Her opera roles include Lauretta, Belinda, Susanna, Magic flute’s Second lady, and Dido and Aeneas’ First Witch.

Besides being a classical singer, Juana is also a Latin American folk music performer. In 2012, she won the first prize at the Colombian traditional music competition Hatoviejo Cotrafa. She has also been finalist in other Colombian Andean Music and Tango competitions.

Currently, she sings with the Cantata Singers and teaches voice and music at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education, Codman Academy Charter Public School and ABC Spanish in Motion.
