Mike Caudill is a Boston-based performer, self-published composer, arranger, and educator who plays throughout New England and tours with a variety of groups. In addition to leading his own quartet, he plays saxophone in the jazz fusion group, City of Four, which recently returned from a West Coast tour of the San Francisco Bay area. With a variety of ensembles, Mike has performed in historic venues, like Boston’s Symphony Hall and Worcester’s Mechanic’s Hall, as well as in notorious jazz venues like Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, Sculler’s Jazz Club, and others. His latest CD release accompanied a tour of Nashville, TN, and is entitled Pictures Around Us.
Some of Mike’s achievements include being selected to play Lead Tenor in the 2015 Mid-Atlantic Jazz Orchestra directed by trumpeter Sean Jones, 2014 Winner of the ASCAP Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Awards, 2014 recipient of a Downbeat Student Music Outstanding Performance Award with City of Four, and being named a Presser Scholar of Music at the University of Massachusetts.
Christian Tremblay is a Boston-based keyboardist, composer, arranger, and music producer from Boylston, MA who performs and writes in a variety of styles. He plays with many local groups, including the jazz fusion groups Solrac and City of Four, and the rock/neo-soul group Bulldog. Christian also studied at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he earned a Master of Music in Jazz Arranging/Composition, a B.A. in Jazz Piano, and a B.S. in Software Systems. His academic achievements include the Max Roach jazz scholarship (UMass Amherst), piano chair with the 2015 Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Jazz Orchestra, and three Downbeat Student Music Outstanding Performance Awards with various groups.
Between them, Mike and Christian have performed with many musical icons, ranging from jazz greats like Randy Brecker, Dave Liebman, and Ernie Watts, to groups like the notorious rock band 10,000 Maniacs. Over the past decade of their musical collaboration, their duo playing has become a true exploration of their roots and the eclectic body of music that each has experienced.
